I never imagined that selling my own home would one day lead me to helping others find theirs, but that experience sparked a deep compassion for clients parting with their generational homes.
It was just another day at the office, and I knew exactly what was ahead of me: answering phones, filing papers, and capturing insurance details, the same thing as always. “I’m going to lose my mind,” I thought to myself, “if I keep doing this day after day.” That’s when real estate first popped into my mind.
I’ve always valued homes. When my three kids were little, I was lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom. I loved every minute of it, but eventually, we needed some extra income. I mentioned this to an acquaintance, and she told me she needed help cleaning her house. That conversation became the start of my cleaning business.
I already enjoyed cleaning my own home, but this client took my skills to the next level. She taught me the ins and outs of deep cleaning, like vacuuming the walls (yes, they get dusty too!). Word spread quickly, and before long, I had a full roster of happy clients. Looking back, that experience prepared me for what was next.
Divorce hit me in more ways than I ever expected. Selling our marital home of 18 years was one of the hardest parts. I still remember the day we signed the papers; it felt like I was losing a part of myself. In that moment, I knew I had to figure out a new career path.
I started working at an eye doctor’s office, and that’s where I discovered something important: I loved sales. Meeting new people, listening to their needs, and helping them choose the right products was fun and rewarding. I also realized people naturally opened up to me; they trusted me.
But the real turning point came when I worked the front desk at a dentist’s office. It was the same routine every day, and I felt like my soul was slowly being crushed. I needed something more, something dynamic. That’s when I dove into real estate. I signed up for all-day classes, studied hard, and earned my license in 2020.
Here’s the thing: real estate isn’t easy. It’s not the quick-money career many people assume it is. It takes grit, persistence, and an ability to stay calm in stressful situations. My first year was slow, but I kept showing up. Year after year, my business grew and eventually doubled. Today, I’m honored to be recognized among the top 300 REALTORS® in the Upstate, out of more than 6,000 licensed agents.
Outside of real estate, I love going on bike rides, long walks, and doing Jazzercise, I’ve been at it for 20 years! I have three kids, Abby and Zack who are now grown and starting families of their own and Annsley, who will graduate in 2026. These days my favorite role of all is being “grandma.” Family dinners, board games, and laughter around the table are what I cherish most.
Looking back, every step of my journey, from being a stay-at-home mom to cleaning houses, and finding my passion in real estate, has shaped who I am today. And I wouldn’t change a thing.
What I love most about being a REALTOR® is helping people navigate one of life’s biggest transitions.
